Wind Potential Assessments – Gacko Project, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Project description: Herzeg Wind d.o.o. was founded in 2008 with aim to invest in renewable energy sources in Republic of Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegovina), especially in wind power projects. Accordingly, the Consultant had been hired to select one site with good wind potential. In 2008, the Consultant has visited more than 15 sites in Republic of Srpska and prepared the Study on site selection. The location near Gacko town has been selected as the most suitable for further wind potential research. Sharing the same goal as the Client, the Consultant was carried out the whole measurement campaign and afterward processed the data using state-of-the-art software packages GH WindFarmer and WAsP. Gacko site had two measurement masts; one 60 m high (measurement levels at :12, 32, 50 and 60 m) and, additionally, measurement equipment has been mounted on the nearby 32 m GSM mast (heated equipment).
