Project description: In May 2007 SEEC contracted with the Municipality of Pirot preparation of Pre-feasibility Study for Optimization of Water Resources Management for the Nisava River Catchment’s Area. Main objective of the documentation was to set up optimal energy utilization of water resources (micro and small HPP with capacities of 100kW up to 10 MW) in accordance with the multiple water utilization of Nišava River potentials having in mind basic technical, economical and financial characteristics of potential HPP. In the territory of Pirot Municipality 42 potential locations suitable for the construction of small hydropower plants were identified, and several alternative solutions. Selected objects with positive economic parameters (20) are with total installed capacity 44 MW and power generation 115 GWh/year. On the bases of analyzed data and relevant conclusions, mentioned Study should be basis for investment promotion in SHPP on the territory of Pirot Municipality, as well as for selection of strategic partners.
