Consulting Services for Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment for the Power Sector of Georgia
In January 2017 SEEC started consulting services on preparation of the Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment of Development Scenarios for Electricity Sector in Georgia. The Government of Georgia requested the World Bank's assistance in the preparation and implementation of the Transmission Grid Strengthening Project (TGSP). Loan agreement for financing of this operation had been signed between Georgia and the World Bank. The development objectives of TGSP are to provide reliable power transmission to the southwestern part of the grid, upgrade electricity exchange systems, and provide economically efficient, environmentally and socially sustainable electricity sector planning.
Third of four components of TGSP is related to the Electricity Sector Strategic Environmental and Social Assessment including associated transmission infrastructure. This component has to be provided by consultant's services related to preparation of a strategic environmental and social assessment (for the purpose of this particular assignment further referred to as SESA) for the power sector.
The Ministry of Energy (MoE) and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection (MoENRP) are the beneficiaries of the SESA, while the contract management for the present consultant assignment is delegated by the Government of Georgia to MoE.
Joint Venture partners on SESA project are as follows: Stucky Ltd. from Renens, Switzerland, as a leading member, Stucky Caucasus Ltd. from Tbilisi, Georgia, South East Europe Consultants Ltd. from Belgrade, Serbia and Gamma Consulting Ltd. Tbilisi, Georgia.
For this entire SESA project in Georgia SEEC provides four key experts including the Team Leader.
